Please note that in addition to the playing rules below, our terms and conditions of business apply to participants.
The League Setup
The game length is 36 Minutes, played as two 18 minute halves.
Three points shall be awarded for a win and one point for a draw.
Once a season is completed, promotions and relegations shall be made, the new fixtures will be generated and the new season shall start the following week. There are no pauses between seasons unless determined in advance by Football Invasion.
Football Invasion may change the match night, times, venue or playing format where it is to the advantage of the league.
It is the captain’s role to ensure all players are aware of the rules and by allowing a player to play in the team, you are confirming that a player has been shown these rules and will abide by them. As captain you agree to these rules and the terms and conditions.
It is the captain’s responsibility to make us aware of any new players joining their team.
The number of players that can comprise a team is 8; of which 5 can be on the pitch at any one time. However, there is no limit on how many players can be in the team’s squad. All players must be registered to your team before they play. This is the responsibility of the captain.
If a team is reduced by three players or more players due to injury or suspension the game shall be abandoned and a 5-0 win shall be awarded to the opposition.
A player can not play for more than one team in the league, unless pre agreed by Football Invasion.
All players must at all times, act in the best interest of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute including but not limited to: use any violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent, insulting words,
behaviour or discrimination (including ethnic origin, colour, race, nationality, faith, gender, sexual orientation or disability).
All participants are advised that Football Invasion is unable to provide personal injury insurance or player-to-player insurance. You are advised to purchase this as a team or individually.
Off Side, Penalty and Free Kicks
There is no offside. Players may place themselves in any part of the playing area without any restriction.
When a player is taking a free kick, the opposition shall be a minimum distance of 3m from the ball until it is in play.
A penalty kick shall be taken from the penalty mark or six yards from the goal (depending on the pitch markings), directly in line with the centre of the goal. The player is to take a one step run up.
No player can enter the area until the penalty kick has been taken.
A goal is scored when the whole ball crosses the whole of the goal line between the goal posts and under the cross bar.
A player can not score directly from kick off without passing the ball to another player first.
Own goals can be scored from within the goal area.
If the ball crosses the side lines, play will be restarts from the point it left with an underarm roll-in by the opposition. Roll-ins shall not exceed head height. The roll-in will be awarded to the opposition if the ball exceeds head height. Players should be at least 2m from the ball when it an underarm throw is taken.
A player can not score directly from a roll in.
Normal football rules apply if the ball leaves the pitch behind the goal line, play will be restarted with either a goal kick or a corner.
Opposition players must be at least 3m from the ball at a corner.
Goal kicks shall be taken from the goal line, and the ball is not in play until it leaves the goal area.
Deliberate delaying of the game by kicking the ball out of the playing area will be punished by a yellow card for unsporting behaviour..
There are no restrictions on players entering the goal areas.
Additional Points for Goalkeepers
The goalkeeper is allowed out of his goal area. Once he has crossed onto the outfield, he shall be treated as normal player.
The goalkeeper cannot take the ball back into his area from the outfield to pick it up. Infringement of this rule shall result in an indirect free kick.
There is no restriction on the goalkeeper using his feet in the area to play the ball.
The goalkeeper must distribute the ball either underarm or by kicking the ball from the floor. Infringement of this rule shall result in an indirect free kick.
The goalkeeper cannot pick up a back pass. Infringement of this rule shall result in an indirect free kick.
Indirect free kicks for Goalkeeping offences will be taken from the edge of the goal area nearest to where the offence took place
All players MUST wear shin pads. This is compulsory and failure to do so may result in that player being excluded from play. Player not wearing shin pads, do so at their own risk.
Ideal Footwear is astro turf boots/trainers or moulds. Metal football studs/blades and plastic blades are not permitted. Incorrect footwear could result in injury to you and others. Failure to wear the appropriate footwear may result in that player being excluded from play.
The rules of the competition allow unlimited rolling substitutions from the 8 player team. Substitutions can only be made when the ball is dead and only with the Referees consent. Play shall not be stopped for substitutions to take place, except for changes to the goalkeeper. Outgoing substitutes must leave the field of play before the replacement enters the playing area. The oncoming players are active immediately and can receive the ball. Substitutes must stand outside the pitch perimeter and spectators must not enter the field of play under any circumstances.
Any player may change with the goalkeeper, provided that the referee is informed of the change and it is done so in a stoppage of play.
Teams MUST be at the pitch and ready to start play at the allotted time. Failure to be ready may result in your opposition starting the game with a 2 goal lead.
If there is no sign of a team five minutes after the allotted kick off time the result may be awarded to the opposition as a 5 – 0 win.
Games will be shortened if teams arrive late.
If, in the opinion of Football Invasion, the conduct of any club or player brings the competition into disrepute, Football Invasion reserves the right to remove them from the competition.
During a game the referee may award a yellow or red card depending on the severity of misconduct.
Referees must be treated with respect from all teams. Teams found guilty of abusing referees will be removed from the league, as will teams in material or persistent breach of these rules.
The Referees decision on all on-field matters is final and no discussions will be entered into either on or off the field with him about any decision. The Referees jurisdiction on disciplinary matters will apply until players have left the venue. Players repeatedly disputing decisions may have further disciplinary action taken against them.
Teams with a valid complaint against a match official must be put in writing within 48 hours of the match taking place.
If a yellow card is awarded the player shall be temporarily suspended from play.
During the suspension a player must stay off the field of play and shall not be replaced, this shall be deemed as the ‘sin bin’.
The referee shall inform the player when the suspension is over.
The period of suspension shall be 5 minutes.
If a player receives 2 yellow cards in the same game he shall not take any further part in the game.
If a straight red card is awarded the offending player shall not be allowed to take further part in the match and shall be suspended by Football Invasion for a minimum of 1 match.
Any suspension awarded by Football Invasion shall affect this competition only.
If a player is given a red card whilst off the field of play (for unacceptable conduct on the sideline), the team must correspondingly reduce the number of players on the field.
Football Invasion reserves the right to remove any player or team from all Football Invasion competitions.
Fouls and Slide Tackles
Foul tackles will be punished by a free kick, yellow or red card.
Sliding tackles are forbidden and shall be punished by the awarding of a free kick. Repeat offences will result in a yellow card and the offending player being sin binned and/or sent off. However, the referee may at any time issue a yellow or red card for any tackle deemed reckless or dangerous.
Sliding tackles in the penalty area by the defending team shall be punished with the award of a penalty.
Sliding to block a shot, where it is clear the defending player is not attempting to win the ball, is acceptable.
Sliding to intercept a pass between to players, where no contact with a player is made, is acceptable.
Foul and/or abusive language will not be tolerated and will be punished by a yellow or red card.
Any tactical foul where a player intentionally prevents an obvious goal-scoring opportunity will result in the offending player being shown a yellow card and suspended from play for 5 minutes.
The team match fee shall be determined by Football Invasion, this may change from time to time. The match fees are payable before the game commences.
Teams can pay match fees in advance via the team website, or pay on the night in cash.
If the full match fee is not received, Football Invasion may deduct the result. Any goals scored removed and the 5-0 win will be awarded to their opposition.
Any team that pay their match fee by cheque which is then declined by the bank, shall incur an additional £10 administration fee.
Football Invasion reserve the right to withhold any trophies from teams that have monies owing from debt accrued throughout any season. Football Invasion reserve the right to block a team’s promotion from teams that have monies owing.
Failure to pay fees on any occasion shall be deemed a breach of competition rules and Football Invasion reserves the right to remove the team from that competition.
The team captain is responsible for all team underpayments and match fee arrears. Any monies owed which are not covered shall be collected by Football Invasion or an appointed agency from the captain. By entering a team, the captain agrees to this responsibility.
If a team is absent for a fixture the opposition shall be awarded the game 5-0, and the defaulting team will still be liable for the FULL match fee..
.Wherever possible, teams should give proper notice of their intention to not play a game to Football Invasion before NOON on the day of the fixture, by phone to 07775 448083.
Where a team is absent for 2 consecutive games, Football Invasion reserve the right to remove the team from the competition and any monies owed shall be collected from the captain by Football Invasion or an appointed agency.
If a team is late by more than 5 minutes or do not have enough players (if 2 or more players are missing), the game may be awarded to the opposition 5-0.
Games Called Off
In all cases where Football Invasion is satisfied that a game has been abandoned through the fault of one of the teams, a 5-0 win shall be awarded to their opponents.
A maximum of 3 points may be deducted from the total gained by any club found responsible for causing the match to be abandoned as a result of the conduct of its players/officials.
In the event of a game being abandoned through any other extreme cause not provided for above, one point shall be awarded to each team.
Playing and Leaving
When a team joins a Football Invasion league they are committing to the duration of the entire season.
A team shall always be automatically entered into the next season unless notice of withdrawal has been served by the team captain.
A team can only leave at the end of a season.
To withdraw from the league the team captain MUST give at least two 2 weeks written notice before the end of that current season.
The team must then fulfill the remainder of that season’s fixtures, and shall be withdrawn before the new season commences.
The team can give the written notice to Football Invasion by submitting it via the website.
Any team that leaves the league without the two 2 weeks written notice or before the end of a season shall be charged for the remaining games.
All participants entering into sporting activities do so entirely at their own risk and the organizers, their servants or agents do not accept liability for any personal injury or loss/damage to property howsoever caused.
